Walk with me..

 Hello creative friends,

Get your boots on as today I invite you to
walk with me along the canal side near my home
as I share another page for my Guest Host theme

Here's my hand drawn and painted boot, stamped Tree's with die cut
and embossed leaves striding along the canal bank walking amongst
crunchy, soggy and often slippery fallen leaves.

Shadows cast on the water make the canal look much wider than it is
Without those embankment tree shadows the sky and earth would be seamless.

Each UK season brings something very special but nothing like Autumn,
nature presents us with glorious golden yellows, orange with hint's of
ruby red as the many green's start to fade, the illusion of warmth
as we take a closer step towards Winter.

Wishing you all a safe and happy weekend

Creative Artiste SEPTEMBER Challenge ~ #75 Anything Mixed Media Goes

 Hello Creative Friends

Time again to welcome you all to
our theme is ALWAYS *Anything Mixed Media Goes*

This month my mixed media make brings together previous
project left overs and things that never really came to be.

The stencilled box frame has seen many colours over the past
months before I settled on Prize Ribbon and tarnished brass.

A piece of clock face flexi mould pasted to a grey board heart was
cut to fit with precision inside the box aperture. Painted in similar
colours the heart is suspended over the embossed typewriter inner.

Adorned with die cut and painted colorize blooms an idea-ology tag
distressed to blend in with the frame colours completes the design.

Probably my favourite make of 2021 i'm always amazed by
what can be created with those little bits left behind..

Creative Artiste JULY Mixed Media Challenge #73 ~ Anything Mixed Media Goes

 Hello Creative Friends,

It's time to welcome you all to
our theme is ALWAYS Anything Mixed Media Goes..

This month I'm sharing my latest Junk Journal..

It's contents is wrapped in corrugated card decorated with
tissue scraps, washi tape and short lengths of lace. The lace
butterfly aperture was cut using a Sizzix Bigz Die an offcut
from a project I created over two years ago, how happy I was
to rediscover it and bring it to life as my journal focal...

Painted and embellished with broken jewellery, buttons and brads,
along with Tim Holtz trim, idea-ology metal tab and token..

Creative time has been very limited these past few months,
so I give thanks to the taster courses and time given by those
creatives that have given me prompts and incentive to play..

Here's a taste of what's kept inside, a quick watercolour
inspired by Kasia's #ArtReboot last month..

Pop on over HERE to see what the Creative Artiste DT have
created this month and share your creations with the team..
we love to see your Anything Mixed Media Goes makes.

Creative Artiste March Challenge ~ Anything Mixed Media Goes

 Hello Creative Friends,

It's the first Friday of the month so let me
our theme is always Anything Mixed Media Goes.

Today i'm sharing my
Everything Spring junk journal cover.

As March see's the start of Spring it's written that
the Green Man is a symbol of rebirth, new growth and
an environmental guardian amongst many other things.

Here's those how to do's and how he came to be...

Pouring melted UTEE onto an old book cover, I used clear embossing
ink to protect the large Lavinia Green Man stamp, pressing the
image firmly into the hot UTEE transferring the impression.

With a pair of Tim Holtz creepy eyes, i'd planned to paint and
simply add die cut oak leaves but I could already sense this
was not going to give the result I was really hoping for..

So using the outer oak thinlit from Tim Holtz leaf print die set
I used it like a cookie cutter pushing into paper clay to cut out the
leaf image, forming those leaf creases with a ball tool and knife.

Making those branch lines more prominent by tracing with a glue pen
I painted the surface when dry framing the face by gluing down those
cut and formed oak leaves, leaving to dry until the following day.

Pushing beads into the clay adds extra detail as the whole
leafy area is painted with acrylics and a dab of gold paint.

With texture paste dragged down the spine stippled in bark brown
paint, a junk jewellery book mark adds a little more to it's design.

He's a mighty statement feature, makes me want to preserve him
and keep him in the garden, he looks very much at peace there..

So if you have a passion for mixed media we'd love
you to share your creations with us over HERE

have created to inspire you this March

Creative Artiste ~ February Challenge #68

 Hello Creative Friends

Welcome to Creative Artiste's

This month I have an altered notebook to share with you BUT
before I do may I say I lost a whole weekend early January
cutting and water colouring these stunning colorize blooms,
my main focal this month and I loved every second of it..

I digress.. oopps now where was I..?
Oh yes onto those altered notebook how to do's..

First covering a plain notebook in Kraft card embossed using Tim Holtz
Texture Fades 3-D Typewriter folder, I dry brushed with black gesso
adding a tickle of gilding wax to highlight those typewriter keys.

There's not many mixed media creations of mine that escape without
the addition of lace and when teamed up with pearls it just adds to
the romance.. The strawberries and champagne of mixed media.. 😊

Cutting out individual letters from the embossed Typewriter folder
I chose to spell the word noted as my intention for this book
was to use it to document and sketch creative ideas.

Layered leaves, buds and rose with twisted wire and bead
stems it just brought everything together harmoniously..

Complete with it's pearl & glass heart junk jewellery bookmark
roll on spring so we can enjoy those pretty blooms for real !!..

Thank you for taking time to stop by today.

I hope you maybe inspired to mix it up and share your
Mixed Media creations with the Creative Artiste Team HERE

Take care everyone

Art Journal Journey ~ The meaning of.. Christmas

Hello Creative Friends.

I know Christmas starts on the eve for many of you
so let me begin by wishing you Greetings of the Season...

As Guest Host @ Art Journal Journey here's a journal page
to share the love I have for those rich colours of the season.

Upon a collage page there's a hand drawn and painted poinsettia,
surrounded by die cut sprigs, with it's holly leaves and berries
I finished with dots, dabs and snow white gesso splashes...

*The meaning of..* Christmas: my gift to you

Christmas has a different meaning for us all, with gift giving and
symbol of faith. The coming together of friends and family or just
a time to wind down during the holiday before a new year begins.

A time for reflection and to remember past loved ones,
it's certainly a different Christmas for us all this year.

Wishing everyone a safe
and happy holiday.

Creative Artiste Challenge #67 ~ Anything Mixed Media Goes

 Hello Creative Friends

our theme is always *Anything Mixed Media Goes*

For my December DT creation i'm sharing a mixed media card.

Here's how it all came to be..

Using the Rustic Lantern Bigz die from Tim Holtz
I cut out the image from calico covered mount board.

Liner pen and a tickle of texture paste adds
depth and dimension to the rustic lantern's frame.

Painted with silver and black ink the inner globe is
blended with vintage distress ink heat embossed using
clear embossing powder to simulate it's shielding glass.

A fashioned wire handle is attached to the frame

Bigz Tattered Poinsettia's are die cut and painted, teasing the leaves
before gluing together adding those final dimensional central flowers.

A mini replica of an original once belonging to my late
Father in Law, it helped guide his way down the mines as a boy.

Created for my Mother in Law as a Christmas card
I hope it shines a brighter light as 2021 approaches..

I look forward to seeing your

AJJ ~ The meaning of ... Art

 Hello everyone,

As Decembers Guest Host @ Art Journal Journey
i'm sharing my second journal spread

I adore every aspect of art it allows me to explore, experiment and express.
Nothing compares to the feeling of bringing a blank page to life with colour..

Collage and texture paste through stencils helps breaks up this surface
where alcohol inks are dripped, sprayed and teased around the page.

The stamped and painted brushes represent a small selection of tools
I use to help me discover, demonstrate and make visual noise on a page.

and not forgetting those paint tubes like little houses
that help keep our precious paints all safe and sound..

Art it's within me.. like my beating HEART..

Stay safe & creative

All things Grunge Girl..

It's time for another challenge over on the That's Crafty Challenge Blog
for residents in the UK and Northern Ireland
For the next two weeks the Theme will be *All Things Grunge*
I hope you find time to share your
Grungy creations with us and join in with the challenge over HERE
There's a £20 voucher to spend in the That's Crafty Store for the winning entry.

Here in words and pictures is my take on *All things Grunge*

I painted an MDF GiganTAG with two coats of White Gesso this gave me the surface tooth needed to create my Grunge Girl. Using the Dinky Eye Stencil I traced the outline with a pencil adding detail to the iris and giving the eye a pupil.

I then filled the GiganTag space by drawing a face, adding shadow, shade
and colour using caran d'Ache neocolor pastels and coloured pencils.

A Black Posca Marker has helped define the outer eye with shimmer paints
dripped down the eye in a sequence of light to dark, pink, purple and Charcoal.

After the final detail has been added to the eyes the stencil has been laid back on top
and 3D Gloss Gel pushed through it. The Gel although it appears white at first
does dry completely clear giving a glossy raised effect over it.

I repeated the process giving more dimension and when dry I used the black Posca Marker to trace over the dry gel defining the darker areas of the eye and adding lashes.

Antique silver Shimmer paint has added a glimmer of light to the hair and glossy accents a shiny look to the lips. Sari Silk Ribbon with Tyvek Beads and pearls have added interest to my *GiganTAG Grunge Girl*

There's so many directions you can take with this challenge and I hope you like my take on *Anything Grunge* Thank you for sharing your time with me again and I look forward to seeing what route you take over the next fortnights Challenge.

Take care and Stay Safe..

Here Comes Santa

So many Christmas makes this year but so little time to photograph and share everything with you, here is a quick creation that's getting quiet a bit of use at the moment.

Here Comes Santa Candle Jar

Using Sweet Dixie Here Comes Santa Christmas Dies Designed by Sue Dix from Personal Impressions, both die shapes have been cut from Kraft Card.

The Santa Sleigh has been glued to the inside of the jar using glossy accents the Christmas Village has been cut out twice enabling me to cover the circumference of the Jar.

I added crystal stickles glitter glue randomly to the inside of the jar to add sparkle and using a white pen marked where I wanted to add the snowfall decoration.

The white pen marks are traced over using a Versamark pen and Stampendous Frantage Shabby White Embossing enamel added. When heated this gives a fabulous chunky effect.

Decorated sparingly with ribbon and twine the Candle Jar is completed with a Tea light candle and looks so effective when lite from all angles.

Why not recycle a Jar fill it with treats of your choice and add an LED Tea light into the mix, this really does produce a multifunctional handmade gift.

Thank you for taking a peek, I hope you have been inspired just a little.

A little piece of Autumn...

Autumn such an inspirational season with its changing colours.. my favourite time of year.
This little canvas is my preparation for a project in the making as I have plans to create this on a much grander scale, but for the moment its just a 5" x 7" canvas.

Stamps used are Personal Impressions Zendoodle Leaves PICSA6425 which consists of four leaf outline stamps Designed by Lindsay Mason
Each leaf design has been stamped multiple times onto Sweet Dixie smooth card. Ranger Distress ink in Autumnal colours has been blended over the stamped leaf images and sprayed with water, when the water droplets are lifted this leaves a spotted blotched effect.

The leaves have been cut out and their veins scored using a ball tool. The leaves have then been glued onto a 5x7 canvas which has been prepared with texture paste and painted with a combination of DecoArt Raw Umber, Burnt Sienna and Hansa Yellow Paint. A good coating of Mod Podge helps to seal the finished canvas along with a tiny ladybird.

Thank you for checking out my little piece of Autumn.. Creative Hugs from Tracey xxx
