What's on your Workdesk Wednesday ~ 508

Hello Creative Friends

Oh my... i'm not sure where the last two weeks went eaten away with
Hospital/Dr's/Vets appointments, Family get together's, Family visits
and care work. There's not been much time left for creativity.

Time to change all that and get back to it... there's work to be done.

I'm here today to share What's on my Work Desk and check out
shared desks over at the Stamping Ground thanks to Julia.

Here's my desk this morning with some handmade cards that need sending.
So many Birthdays in Feb, Mar and Apr. The card below was a very quick
card created for my Son who turned 25 on Sunday. Thanks to Anne for
helping me out with this one you really was a life saver xx

Update on Life and Love, our wee dog is still under observation
to find what's causing her poor skin condition. Her recent blood tests
have returned inconclusive so i'm now looking into natural remedy's..
as the vet seems pretty useless apart from taking their fee's.

and finally for those that may remember Hubby can at last restart
his Cardio-rehab after getting the all clear from his latest scan..
I've never known him so eager to start exercising hee hee!!

Thanks for stopping by everyone.
Looking forward to seeing WoywW

Frilly and Funkie Guest Designer ~ Let me count the ways..

Hello Creative Friends,
It's really lovely to be here today.

I'm so lucky to have been asked to be a Guest Designer over at
Frilly and Funkie. Hosted by Sara Emily this Fortnight's Challenge
Theme is inspired by Elizabeth Barrett Browning's Love Poem
How do I Love Thee (Sonnet 43) Let me counts the ways.

Frilly and Funkie are asking you to share your Vintage/Shabby Chic
creations that include *Three of Something* this could be three colours,
words, stamps etc... Pop on over HERE and see what the super talented
Frilly and Funkie Design Team have created to inspire you.

Here's what I created along with those *How to Do's*

I had to think long and hard about this theme,
whilst reading the poem I gathered vintage fabrics,
lace and stamped images as I searched for inspiration.

With the romance of those words I cut out large fabric hearts from linen
and stamped Tim Holtz Patchwork pieces using sepia versafine onto calico.

Layered snippets of lace adds embellishment and dimension
along with buttons from Grandma's button tin.

Sewn onto a cotton and muslin panel hemmed top and bottom I stamped along
both edges using a border stamp from the same patchwork pieces set.

Around two wooden dowels wrapped wire holds three pearl beads to each end.
Threaded through those hemmed edges they act as support for the fabric panel.

Amongst my paper stash I came across snippets of vintage ephemera
and words on a 6x6 paper, it was as if those three words
Forever, Cherish and Adore were just waiting to be found.

Machine stitching around each word I made three tags
and created a mini affection booklet to hold them inside.

Partially sewn onto the panel an embellished
pin holds the booklet secure to the heart.

With the top of the heart left unsewn a pocket has
been created to hold the affection booklet within.

A single strip of lace acts as a hanger completing my
Vintage Fabric hanging Heart.

Thank you so much for stopping by today.

I've really enjoyed my time creating this piece,
Thank you to Frilly and Funkie for having me
and to Sara Emily for hosting *Let me count the ways*

Wishing you all a wonderful day full of love and romance!
It is the most romantic day of the year after all...

What's on YOUR workdesk Wednesday ~ 506?

Hello Everyone,

Well I managed to make it today after a busy couple of weeks
but i'm here today as it's WOYWW 506 I think?

Wednesday's the day that crafty folk share what's on their work desk
thanks to Julia who opens her doors to us all over at the stamping ground.

It's all about handmade buttons today and my pocket sized tins.
I can take this craft with me where ever I go.. So addictive!!

This little Lady is off for some blood tests today.
Finger's crossed they give us the answers to what's making her feel so groggy.
Think she's saving that bit of breakfast on her nose in case they keep her in
as she knows only too well that the food they serve in there is horrid...

Look forward to seeing what you've all been up too,
I'll be round to visit asap.

Take care everyone,

Vincent's/Tracey's Chair...

Hello Creative Friends,
I hope you are all keeping well ?

I've been somewhat quiet in blogland.

This week was reserved for a dear friend we sadly lost in January,
time to pay respect, spend time with friends and say our goodbyes.

This poignant piece I share with you today.

Some of you already know I have a love for *Vincent*
This stencil is designed by the amazing Donna Downey,
one of many in her signature series and in my collection.

This is indeed Van Gogh's Chair... my way!

Blending ink through the stencil lay down those important outlines.
A watercolour wash acts as a foundation for my colour palette.

Unlike Vincent's original there is no pipe and tobacco placed on this chair.

I'm not sure if this was Donna's intention?

I chose to sketch in a pencil, for making marks which can easily
be erased and a pair of glasses, worn to see the finer detail or
removed to blur out the surrounding world.

Finished with acrylics you'll see no onions in the wooden box behind;
I chose to leave it empty... It does say Vincent on it after all.

Painted in the style of Vincent with my own signatures.
My yellow chair is complete...

Thank you for stopping by today, i'm looking forward to playing catch up
with you all this weekend and seeing what you've all been up too.

Take care everyone & look after each other..

Paperbabe Stamps ~ Challenge #91 Anything Goes

Hello Creative Friends..

Welcome to February and a new challenge over at Paperbabe Stamps
It's *Anything Goes* this month so why not pop on over HERE and share
your creativity, we'd love to see what you have been up too.
There's a prize for one lucky randomly chosen winner...

Here's what I got up to in my journal page
along with those *How to Do's*

Blending scattered straw DI through the Paperbabe stripes stencil
modelling paste was pushed through it's partnering gears stencil.

Sketching a large heart I stamped facial features onto rice paper
allowing me to position the face exactly where I wanted it.
Glued down I used scraps and snippets of lace to add dimension around
the heart and to the surrounding outer edges of the journal pages.

Wavy pencil lines represent her flowing locks with Grunge paste adding texture.

Sketched arms give that heart a big hug, with background colours inspired
by the scattered straw and encouraged with Ochre acrylics and neo IIs.

Gentle pencil shading over the raised areas reveal those hidden gears.

White gesso helps bring out those lacy areas, blend those
colours into the background and bring the heart to the forefront.

My double page journal spread is complete.

I think I will call this piece *Hold on to your HeART...*
It is the month for love after all...

Thank you for popping on over today,
wishing you all a happy and creative week ahead.

Take good care everyone
