Try it on Tuesday ~ Vintage Baked Frame

I was over the moon when I was asked to Guest Designer over at
Try it on Tuesday this fortnight and with the theme being
*Vintage* how could I possible resist.

Here is my Vintage* Baked Frame
and those *How to Do's*...

Stamping out a a dragonfly from Visible image I coloured in watercolour pencils.

Using a 11cm x 9 cm Size frame painted in warm tan paint
I placed the frame over the dragonfly inked up the stamp
and matching it up with the image kissing the frame with
the dragonflies delicate wings.

Colour matching the wings using the same watercolours I added
a hint of vintage rose to the outer edge of the frame.

To add some raised detail to the frame I used Pebeo Cerne Relief
to draw detail around the inside and outer edge.

When dry Versamark embossing ink was stamped all over
the frame and bees wax baked Texture sprinkled all over it.

When heated it gives the most delicious colour and effect upon the frame.
With the dragonfly image fitted securely into the frame, co-ordinating glitter glue
has been dotted across the glass covered wings and those stamped onto the frame.

Four flat back pearls sit neatly in each corner edged also with Cerne Relief.
A touch of gilding wax highlights those scrumptious baked bubbles.

Vintage Frame

I have another of these frames untouched,
I may just have to decorate it in a similar way so it has a friend..

Thank you so much for visiting
and please do pop on over and check out the

May Tag.. Time to Celebrate

May..!! What an eventful month and we are not midway yet. Lots of highs for me,
lets not mention the flu bug that's tried to put a damper on things!
One piece of uplifting news was being announced as one of four new additions to the superb That's Crafty Design Team, I had been sitting on this exciting announcement for quite some time and am so happy the cat is now out of the bag.

Thank you so much to Laura for thinking me worthy enough to be part of your DT family I'm looking forward to working alongside you all and sharing my first DT piece very soon.

Meanwhile here is my May Tag using those prompts from the 12 week Tag Challenge

Priming a That's Crafty " Tag in white Gesso I covered in a layer of Marigold Acrylic Paint, then brayerd Calypso Blue Acrylic over the top. Using Modelling paste I chose to use it to press ribbon and threads onto my tag as collage.
A layer of diluted gold has been painted on top.

White acrylic has been splashed onto the tag and structure paste pushed through a stencil.
A coating of clear gesso has been applied all over and Rubber Dance little stamps stamped around the edges.

Good old gilding wax has helped bring out the detail with some pre-cut bunting found amongst my stash used as my focal image. I used a Tim Holtz words sticker, doodled and coloured the stamped images with posca marker pens and added a detailed button to embellish and highlight the *Celebrate* sentiment. Ribbon has been coloured with alcohol markers to co-ordinate with the bunting.

and my May Tag is complete. I do love all the hidden texture amongst these tags and when highlighted with gilding wax it's more like hidden treasure. I only wish my photography did all that treasure justice. Thank you again Chris* for those 12 weeks of wisdom..

Have a safe and happy weekend everyone..

Lacquer look Book Box..

I do so love this stamp by Paperbabe, I had used it in a project earlier in the year
but whilst having a clean up & recycle this week I came across this image I had already coloured hiding in a Graphic 45 Book Box. This is what I created using it..

Lacquer look Book Box..

I distressed around the image using Tea Dye Distress ink then cut the image to size. Creating faux stitching around the edge I then triple embossing the whole image.
When dry I created cracks in the embossed image by bending it gently and stained
them with gathered twigs distress ink to add age.

The image was edged with Stampendous Gold embossing powder and glued onto a 5x7 canvas board that had been painted with gold paint, edged and scribbled over with a wax tealight to create a resist  and black gesso painted on top. When dry areas were sanded back to expose some of the gold underneath.
A layer or two of Mod Podge helps create the Lacquered look.

A panel was created for the spine of the box using a distressed paper off cut.
I stamped the Flower from Paperbabe oriental Zen stamp set as it is the same stamp that is in Mae Lee Dees hair. and used the same colours to replicate the design. The triple embossing & cracking technique was repeated along with the gold embossed edges and distressing of the cracks to marry up both front and side designs.

Ribbon coloured to coordinate with the flower was tied around the box
to act as a closure and the canvas glued onto the box front securing the ribbon.
Modelling paste has been scraped around the edge of the box using a comb to resemble book pages and left to harden. When dry I covered with a layer of black gesso and highlighted all the raised edges with gilding wax.

A final layer of Mod Podge and brass brads complete the finished design..

I'm using my book box to store inchies i'm creating for a 365 days of inchies challenge and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that It will hold all 365 of them by the end of the year..

Thank you for stopping by, wishing you all a super weekend.

Hugs Tracey xx

"Percy... sometimes...."

Percy just one of many Digital Downloads by Lindsay Mason available to purchase from Lindsays' Etsy store. Printed and coloured with pro markers using shades and tones of Sepia, Percy has been cut out and raised onto a water colour wash background.

The Quote: Taken from Lindsay Mason Design "Creative Thoughts" A5 Stamp set...
**sometimes we just need to stop, listen to the voice inside and then take another route... seemed to fit quite nicely with the image.

Mat and layered the design has been pasted onto a plywood frame that I upcycled by sanding, painting and beating a few times with a hammer (just to give that distressed look..!!) A little gilding wax added the final touch..

Thank you for taking a peek at my crafting creations.. Creative Hugs from Tracey xx
