Whimsical Post Card Album ~ Paperbabe Sketch Challenge #71

Happy Friday Everyone,

It's challenge time over on the Paperbabe Stamps blog
where we have a sketch prompt for you this fortnight.

Use the picture prompt below to help you create,
flip it, turn it and use the *Paperbabe Stamp image* to add any sentiment
and let your imagination flow, create your unique creation and
share it with us over HERE.

There's a prize for one random winner.

Here's what I got up to using those prompts to create a postcard album.

Just before Easter I found a box full of inchies,
these I created in January 2017 using the Whimsical Woodland stamps.

They were the first of a 365 day challenge I took part in but failed miserably by April.
Seemed such a shame to keep them hidden away after finding them again..

Using five I created an inchie strip, this would be the topper on my album cover.

I have to admit i'm rubbish when it comes to numbers and i'd much rather create by
eye than abide to measurements but at times I need to be a little more precise.

This album I created using the size of a postcard adding a little extra either side.

Creating the cover first, I then cut all the album pages and created a
concertina spine to hold them all in place. I glued down some ribbon
to act as an album closure then started to put the album together.

It really is a labour of love cutting all those pages, gluing each one
to the spine holding them all together with strong bull dog clips until dry

... but I was quite pleased with the outcome!!

With the inchie topper and an embossed whimsical sentiment glued
onto the cover, my album is now ready to house my postcard Art.

I'm looking forward to filling it..

Thank you for sharing your time it's very much appreciated.

I hope you find time to check out the Design Team makes
and hope to see your take on the Sketch Challenge #71

Have a super weekend everyone

Paperbabe Stamps Challenge #52 ~ Sketch

Hello everyone I do hope you are all having a good week? I'm sharing a card I put together over the weekend for the Paperbabe Sketch challenge and thought i'd better share it with you all before the challenge is over.. Here's my very quick How to do's..!!

This challenge is a Sketch Challenge where Kim gives a prompt along with interpretations for inspiration. I must admit I struggled thinking this one out in my head so decided to get messy and create each part then think again on how I would piece it all together.

Here's my pieces..

.. laying down my Card foundation..

1: Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot Distress background
2: Tando Circle coloured in Caran D'Ache pastels and pencils.
White Posca Marker dots and distressed edges using Black Soot.
3: Tando Butterfly coloured in Neocolor and Black Soot
4: Black strip of card with a Paperbabe sentiment stamped and embossed.

.. and finishing it all off with my focal feature of Little Red
painted with water soluble pastels and pencils.

Phewwwww... I hope I got it right..?
It certainly kept my brain active and I'm quite pleased with the outcome
apart from it needing the odd tweak here and there.
I hope you like it too..

Until next time stay safe..

Thanks a *Bunch* ..

Another quality set of stamps from Rubber Dance Stamps this set Bonny Bunny is a real fun theme and one of two *New Sets Designed by Donna Gray.

I first stamped the larger carrot onto Shrink Plastic and coloured using alcohol markers, carefully cut around the images leaving an edge and punched a hole for a jump ring to be attached when shrunk.

This is the Carrot before and the Carrot after shrinking down in the oven.

I covered a Tag in a piece of mixed media scrap paper from my mini scraps journal and sanded the edges back.

Distressed around the edges using Rusty Hinge the smallest carrot stamp has been stamped onto the background and coloured using the same alcohol markers used to colour the shrink plastic ones. The Bunnies whiskers have been stamped around the tags edge to break up the design.

Jump rings are attached to the shrunken carrots and then fixed to a finding to create a pendant. A long chain is added to create an over the neck necklace.

The stamped words are by Craftwork cards although I did have to create the word bunch by masking and stamping letters from words in the set.

Attached to the tag by tying a ribbon through the top this would make a great gift for someone especially those Bunny lovers out there and I *Carrot believe that my Daughter has already put her claim on this one.. (sorry that was irresistible..!!)

I'd like to enter this in the Rubber Dance Rule of Three Challenge

Enjoy the rest of you week everyone.. and Thank you for stopping by.

Hugs Tracey xx

Lacquer look Book Box..

I do so love this stamp by Paperbabe, I had used it in a project earlier in the year
but whilst having a clean up & recycle this week I came across this image I had already coloured hiding in a Graphic 45 Book Box. This is what I created using it..

Lacquer look Book Box..

I distressed around the image using Tea Dye Distress ink then cut the image to size. Creating faux stitching around the edge I then triple embossing the whole image.
When dry I created cracks in the embossed image by bending it gently and stained
them with gathered twigs distress ink to add age.

The image was edged with Stampendous Gold embossing powder and glued onto a 5x7 canvas board that had been painted with gold paint, edged and scribbled over with a wax tealight to create a resist  and black gesso painted on top. When dry areas were sanded back to expose some of the gold underneath.
A layer or two of Mod Podge helps create the Lacquered look.

A panel was created for the spine of the box using a distressed paper off cut.
I stamped the Flower from Paperbabe oriental Zen stamp set as it is the same stamp that is in Mae Lee Dees hair. and used the same colours to replicate the design. The triple embossing & cracking technique was repeated along with the gold embossed edges and distressing of the cracks to marry up both front and side designs.

Ribbon coloured to coordinate with the flower was tied around the box
to act as a closure and the canvas glued onto the box front securing the ribbon.
Modelling paste has been scraped around the edge of the box using a comb to resemble book pages and left to harden. When dry I covered with a layer of black gesso and highlighted all the raised edges with gilding wax.

A final layer of Mod Podge and brass brads complete the finished design..

I'm using my book box to store inchies i'm creating for a 365 days of inchies challenge and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that It will hold all 365 of them by the end of the year..

Thank you for stopping by, wishing you all a super weekend.

Hugs Tracey xx
