Creative Artiste March ~ #113 Anything Mixed Media Goes

 Hello Creative Friends

After a dark dank start to the year we've started to see
the beauty of Springtime and bursts of sunshine inspiring my

Creative Artiste #113 DT Mixed Media March project...

Recycled paper pieces, offcuts and embossed scraps have been
pasted into an old diary where a Spring scene has been sketched
with paint, pencil and pens...

With a watercolour wash and splatter skyline the pages have been edged
with wonky stitchery completed with a found quote to fit the scene...
Sighhh... take me there 😊

We hope you will share your mixed media creations with us HERE
the team look forward to seeing what you create...

Here comes Summer..!?

 Hello Everyone

We've certainly been seeing signs of Summer in the UK with
beautiful blue skies and sunny days, I hope you have too..??

Here's a journal page celebrating the delights of the season

Colourful paint scraped onto journal pages displays rice paper
butterflies upon a background of stamped and embossed flowers
with two die cut flower heads looking up towards the skies.

A stenciled paste sun ray frames fashioned Lavender stems created
from scrunched up and glued waste paper, buttons and paint...

Creative time is a rare thing for me right now due to family
circumstances but I certainly enjoyed the time I had creating
this mixed media project to share with you this month..

I hope you find time for creativity,
it's a wonderful thing..

Please do come and share with us at

Take care everyone, stay safe
and forever creative

Guest Designer @ Try it on Tuesday

 Hello everyone

I'm extremely honoured yet again to be invited to be a
Guest Designer @ Try it on Tuesday where this fortnight
the lovely TioT Design Teams Theme is *RECYCLE* ..

Today I'm sharing the beginnings of my June Junk Diary..
With it's splash of red, white and blue a nod to the nations
June celebrations of Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee.

During 2022 I've been creating a new Junk Diary every month
gathering left overs and scraps from previous projects, salvaged
packaging, found objects and ephemera with the potential to
be something other than what they may have previously been.

Collaged onto recycled cardboard to create journal covers, this surface
also makes a fabulous substrate for pasting, die cutting and painting on.

Filled with papers, packaging and recycled envelopes each page makes an
alternative surface for mark making, writing, drawing, painting and documenting
colour swatches as well as collecting and collaging pictures from old magazines.

These Foxgloves are from a torn cross stitch magazine cover,
over painted then simply edged with pencil..

a gentle reminder of the Foxglove cross stitch kit tucked neatly
into the journals back pocket, saved for a free creative day..

Thank you so much to the wonderful TioT Design Team for having me as
Guest Designer and allowing me to share my recycled June Junk Diary.

I hope you have been inspired by my sneak peep today,
please do pop on over to see more recycled inspiration
You will not be disappointed..

Stay safe & creative everyone

Just Junk Journaling...

 Hello creative friends,

Already a week passes into March as I continue recycling packaging and
using scraps to make pocket sized Junk Journals to create in each month.

Here's March's JJ covered with rice paper and stamped flowers
painted in Spring time colours and very simply embellished...

with a Tim Holtz die cut and watercoloured bird resembling the
Blue Tit, she sings amid a Spring inspired textured background..

and because time didn't allow me to share last month
here's a small selection from Februarys Junk Journal...

Paper pockets filled with layered scraps with machine stitched edges.

Documenting my Son and his Girlfriends engagement announcement

and some mindful doodling as the door closed on February...

Please be safe creative friends..

Creative Artiste's *May Mixed Media* Challenge #71

Hello Creative Friends,

First Friday of the month so time to welcome
our theme is always *Anything Mixed Media Goes*

Today i'm bringing past things into the present...

This ATC is the last of a bunch made for gifts in 2020.
Created by stamping the Lily onto MDF the image was traced
using liner pen, painted with distress paint then covered with
UTEE and heat embossed several times to create a tile effect.

Making use of a broken picture frame onto it's backboard texture paste
is pushed through a stencil then painted in colours similar to the ATC.

Distress ink is painted through the same stencil onto the inner mount
with it's aperture painted and edged with tarnished brass.

The outer frame is painted in petrol blue with corner fastenings
attached to help strengthen the frame with it's missing glass.

Reassembled the ATC becomes the main focal with offcuts of lace
glued into every corner to compliment the finished redesign.

I love the vibrant colours of this mixed media frame..
Such a cheerful creation.

Reusing it bit by bit..

Hello creative Friends,

We all love to receive new crafty goodies but the amount of packaging
used to keep our products safe as they make their journey to us leaves
little to be desired. It's the downside of online shopping for me.

Here's a project I created recycling a tiny amount of this
weeks packaging and re-purposing found bits and bobs ...

Using a blank A5 journal cover I protected the holes with washi tape and
scraped modeling paste through this fabulously detailed Stamperia stencil.

This plastic water bottle had blown into my front garden.
Cutting off the top and bottom I've used its plastic to cut three
large stems and embossed using the first folder that came to hand.

Taping down those die cuts onto a dark background helped me to
identify the embossed areas whilst dry brushing with white gesso.
When removed they've certainly left their footprint...
I'll recycle that background another day.

Along with buttons cut from old clothing, unloved prizes from
Christmas crackers and poorly cut dies (my fault not theirs)...

this cover was ready to be transformed...

With the protective washi removed I covered in a coat of gesso.

A wash of diluted Black Soot Distress Oxide is painted over the cover
and spritzed with water. A small amount goes a long way pushing
that diluted colour around the page where it clings and defines.

Found this strange shape amongst those Christmas cracker bits,
It brought a smile to my face reminding me of a cold wet dog nose.
Perfect find for my intentions...!

Wrapped wire and buttons to embellish a warm blast with a hairdryer
gently curls those water bottle flowers when glued down in place..

There's a hint to the right what i've used that #wetnose for 😀

It holds a re-vamped stubby little pencil perfectly..

What fun I had recycling and re-purposing...
I think i'll keep this journal just for those recycling arty days.

Wishing you all a super weekend what ever your up too.

Take good care everyone

It Flies.. Paperbabe Challenge #78

Happy Friday everyone

It's time for another Paperbabe Challenge with this fortnights theme being *It Flies*

Flutter on over HERE and see what it's all about...
there's a prize to be won for one lucky creative!!

Some of you may remember this little creation that I teased you with last challenge.
Well today I'll explain what it's all about with a handful of pictures and blogging words.

Onto calico fabric I painted and stamped the Paperbabe *Happy Soul*
rubber stamp. Machine stitched around it's edge and attached an eyelet.

This is the front cover of my Shopper Notebook... aahhhh that's what it is!!
Read or scroll on to see what lies behind..

Stamping the background Butterfly onto fabric, I used some scraps of
rice paper to stamp the Butterfly detail line up and paste on top of the fabric.

Card used to test out colours from the previous challenge is trimmed
to fit the cover, stamped randomly with Paperbabe Stamps and edged in
machine stitch. Machine stitch and beads embellish the fabric Butterfly.

Recycled junk mail envelopes create the note book pages.

with a little brayering to brighten those notebook pages..

Elastic cord sewn onto the back of the fabric panel holds the note book in place..
When running low those recycled pages can easily be replaced after all it's a
resource we all have readily available.

My Shopper notebook is complete..

Secured onto the shopper bag an altered pen hangs along side too.
There's no excuse to forget your shopping list now..!!

Thank you for stopping by you really brighten my day.

Have a fabulous weekend what ever you are up too.
