Creative Artiste AUGUST Mixed Media Challenge ~ #74 Anything Mixed Media Goes

Hello Creative Friends

It's time again to welcome you all to
our theme is ALWAYS Anything Mixed Media Goes..

This month i'm sharing a journal page that's very close to my heart..

Created for my Daughters Birthday based around an old postcard
the words say so much as travel restrictions have
kept us apart for almost a year now...

What you see are not just any old oddment glued and pasted to a page as every single scrap holds a memory. A collection of ephemera saved from throughout her life till now.. Baby leaflets, ribbons from gifts and buttons from handknitted school cardigans, even the tartan washi tape represents her Primary school uniform kilt.. I just couldn't bring myself to cut a strip from it's fabric..

Layers of old wallpaper we stripped from the walls she calls home,
a penny minted with her birth year lays upon lace taken from a dress
she once wore on her first foreign holiday at the young age of one..

Using her favourite brand of Coffee there's stencil stained print strips
amongst saved napkins from past family get togethers we've all shared.

Even the beads that embellish were purchased together on a crafty day out.

all finished with a border of machine stitch using the sewing machine
we brought for her 13th Birthday.. Like us all it eagerly awaits her return.

Every single piece holds a treasured memory..

I'm looking forward to framing this and seeing her little face
light up when she see's it for the very first time.

Please pop on over and see what the Creative Artiste DT
and Guest Designer have created for you this month..
and come share YOUR mixed media creations with us

Stay safe & Creative everyone
Hugs Tracey xx

Wow Tracy, what a gorgeous piece. You have so much wonderful details. I love the lace and stitching, and of course that pretty card. And how can I forget the buttons...need I say more. Your daughter has to love it, and it has to be hard not being able to see her for so long. This covid is tough, not just being sick but also the isolation. I hope you can be reunited soon. Have a great weekend also. And thanks for joining in at Neet's challenge too. Hugs-Erika

This is so much more than a Journal page - what a wonderful creation you have made to celebrate your daughter. I imagine there have been a few tears ian the eyes of friends reading this post, it's a homage to love.
Before I read all the things that are included in the make up of this piece I just stared at the background and got lost in it. It is so beautiful. Then reading about all the little things that meant so much to you and your family I felt humbled that I was being allowed to share.
Simply wonderful Tracy, I am honoured that you have linked it to my theme at AJJ.
Hugs, Neet xx

Tracey! What a beautiful heartwarming and emotional art piece of your memories of and with your daughter. I read every single word and can feel the love, heart and soul you’ve put into creating this beauty. So many small but largely significant material pieces representing stages of your lives. Fabulous details that will take your daughter through many years of her life. What a treasure!!!

This is so touching, Tracey. I read every word and looked for each individual piece. It's a beautiful Birthday card and does look old - they had a special look these older cards. The buttons from hand-knitted cardigans, layers of old wallpaper, the beautiful background - it all speaks of love. How lucky she is to have you as her mother.

Oh Tracey, I got a bit misty eyed reading this! I have been lucky enough to see my grandchildren and sons recently. The youngest used to do some shopping for us in the early days of COVID and he has made occasional trips with food treats over the year - we are lucky to have an outside walkway to our apartment so could chat easily. We are now planning to get everyone together for a picnic later this month!
Your page is so beautiful and love all those captured memories! An absolutely wonderful page for Neet's 'Type' theme. I hope you get to see your daughter soon. Hugs, Chrisx

What an absolutely stunning beauty, Tracey. You have created a genuine homage to your daughter and all the wonderful memories from her childhood. I got a lump in my throat as I read about all the memories each piece and layer entailed. Such a charming entry and a beautiful inspiration for us at Art Journal Journey using Neet's theme, too.

Oh Tracey what a truly stunning piece! You can see all the love that has gone into this, and it made me think of my own precious keepsakes as I read about yours. I don't think our children realise that we are never ready for them to leave home (although we pretend we are lol) I hope that you all mangage to have a real get-together soon. Take care and have a very happy week, Sue xx
