Meet the Family @ WoywW 614

 Hello everyone,

Let me introduce you to my family 😁

I came across this fab idea of altering Beer Coaster from
Iris Fritschi-Cussens of Iris Impressions first @ LifeBook 2021
then on youtube in an earlier tutorial. I had so much fun creating
these I made one for each family member with upcoming Birthdays..

Now they are all sent I can share them with you..

If you'd like to have a go you'll find the video link HERE

So what's on my Wednesday Workdesk...

There's not been much crafting this past week, just sorting through
journals taking note of unfinished pages. I did however have a happy
find of these faces found tucked inside a journal pocket. Stamped
using a hand carved stamp I made in 2019 around the time I was
prepping a Guest blogger piece for Marit's Quirky Dutch Summer.

I needed something to use on fabric so I could repeat the image for
applique but the carved lines were way too thick for what I intended,
so the stamp was just used on paper for me to skin tone study.

There's a face stencil I cut that goes with the stamp but I've no idea
where that is. I think I can make use of these faces in some of those
unfinished journal pages, seems a shame to tuck them away again.

So that's what's on my workdesk this Wednesday,
look forward to seeing what's on yours.

Stay safe & creative
Hugs Tracey xx

  3. Those coasters are genius. Each is so creative, too. Of course your hand carved face is truly out of this world. I am in total awe. Not playing today, just dropping by to admire your art.

  4. Wow. I've done a little eraser carving but this is next level stuff. The faces you made using the stamp are just stunning and deserve to be out in the light, not hidden away unseen. So lovely. I really love the beer mats too - very quirky and super-cute.

    Have a great desk hop!

  6. Have bookmarked the video to watch later but I do love those coasters - almost Clockwork Orange in feel! That face stamp is amazing and I love all the different people you've created with them. I keep wanting to do a face with loads of flowing coloured hair like I see Jane Davenport do but I'm so paralysed by artistic fear! As always, stay safe and keep smiling, Lisa-Jane #8

  8. The stamp you carved is amazing! I remember doing Lino cuts for art exams and sometimes it did my head in, trying to work out what to cut away/leave in place. A bit like negative painting with watercolour! And the coasters are just brilliant, so much character in such a little space, made me smile :-D

  9. Those faces will definitely come in handy on journal pages - I remember your post on Marit's blog - gosh, that was 2019! Seems like a long time ago. Great coasters too and the hand carved stamp is still amazing! I should give stamp carving a go - I tried it once many years ago - bought all the supplies - and then never since! I'm following Julie Fei-Fan Balzer on Instagram and she's making all sort sorts of amazing stamps - even got her book back then when I first became interested. So many things to try and not enough hours in the day! Enjoy your week xx zsuzsa #24

  11. The faces are fabulous, Tracey, and the carved stamp is amazing. I am sure you will find a solution to the problem of stamping on the fabric. I love the idea of altering the beer mats. I've got a ton of old CDs that I ought to do something like that with.

Thank you for your visit - so glad you enjoyed my various bits and pieces, and that you like the cat throw. I wonder what juicer your daughter has got? I did quite a bit of research before I chose mine - they all have their pros and cons. I wonder what juices she is making, too. It's always good to hear of someone going 100 percent plant-based.

    Happy WOYWW,

  12. What great faces - the found ones and the altered beer coasters Tracey. Look forward to seeing how the newly found faces are used in your journals. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #4

  13. I wanna be a teen and shout OMG!! Those coasters are just lovely and your family will forever be in my mind’s eye now! Now, that is a great way to repurpose something. An ugly old beer mat comes good. Brava, Tracey! And then you impress me by talking about skin tone study. Good grief, my crafting is so shallow and so comfortable compared to the work you out into your talent. So happy you lie, being a desker, it fills my eyes with hearts!

  18. Tracey, you always have such clever projects!! I love the beer coaster idea!! I have to go watch that vid! I love the faces as well! I don't do faces very well, so that would be a total bust for me! That being said, I'd have to do something different on those coasters, which may defeat the purpose! LOLOL I have never tried to carve my own stamps. Looks like a lot of time and opportunity for me to muck it up!! LOLOL Here's to a great rest of your week! Blessings! Felicia #31

  19. That’s a great stamp. What did you carve it into? The faces look very different. I came across my face template today, I had forgotten I had done it. Happy WOYWW Angela #21

  20. Beautiful faces Tracey they are gorgeous and the carved face too. I love the repurposed beer mats but they are filling me full of guilt again because I collected these over a period of time and they are still sitting in a box but the ones I have are square. Who knows maybe one day they will see the light of day again. Have a lovely creative woyww, Angela x19x

  22. AH! Tracy! Rhanks for your visit. Love the faces and once again you are reminding me that I have some lino squares and tools still up in my attic that I haven't hunted out yet! They are really good!
I only have square beer mats but I will definitely have a go at painting something on them when I find them! And will check out any video links. Love the doggy cup too. I have a few that says 'mad dog walker' on them! Stay safe, Keep crafting, Happy WOYWW?!((Lyn))#26

  26. Hi Tracey, I think Ida Andersen has done two free courses with the Star Girls. I didn’t use her photograph, but the colour hair seems to be similar in her “Star Girls”. Your “Green Man” is fabulous and I popped over to see the rest of the DT. Love Scrappy Squirrels heart and found the U.K. site for the laser cut :). Also liked the house book. X Angela #21

  27. What a fun idea to create the beer coasters for family members....I bet they loved them? x. Now that you've found those beautiful faces I am looking forward to seeing what you create with them Tracey x.

  28. WOW your faces are brilliant, love the coasters what a great idea. I too love seeing what others do that I don't or can't or just want to but haven't got round to as well. Hubby is having a rather bad reaction to his jab, knocked him for six from about 5 hours after it and the following 24 hours. He's been taking lots of pain meds but nothing stops him eating though - LOL. I'm still pondering it all as I can get nauseous even after a dental injection.
    Thanks for the visit BJ#16

  29. I love the coasters! I will have to check out the YT video. Several years ago at a garage sale I bought a huge box of beer coasters. Probably hundreds of them. I've altered many, and given many away, but probably still have 200 or so left! I belonged to a postcard swap group awhile back and all my postcards were coasters! I love the face stamp, the faces are are gorgeous! Have a great week, thanks for your visit, Lindart #35

  31. Thanks for your reply, Tracy. As far as your daughter's vegan diet is concerned, she will be fine if she's whole-food plant-based but you can be eating a really unhealthy diet and still be vegan - chips, Oreos and Coca-Cola for instance! The only vitamin you definitely need to supplement when on whole-food plant-based is Vitamin B12 because this is not present in plants. It is created in the environment by bacteria and now that our drinking water is all sterilised we don't get it from there. Meat-eaters still get it because animals ingest it from the non-sterile environment (along with lots of other things, which is another good reason not to eat meat!). I'd be very interested to hear more about what she eats, as well as about her juicer!

    Have a great weekend.

  33. Lovely idea of the beer mats and LOVE your carved face stamp. Must admit I do love carving faces for colouring etc as I am rubbish at consistency so this gets me out of that! :-)

Thanks for visiting my desk already
