Going round in circles ~ it's a challenge!!

It's the start of a brand new blog challenge over at That's Crafty
with this months theme being *Going round in Circles*

Here's my take on this month theme
along with those *How to Do's*

Influenced by the colours on a tag found in my stash this tag was far to small
to use with all those That's Crafty circular stamps and stencils
...So this time I've gone Large using an MDF GiganTAG..

Using a palette knife multi surface paint is scraped onto the GiganTAG
along with texture pastes pushed through stencils with circular apertures
all helping to build up that very large blank background area.

Diluted multi surface paint is sprayed into those raised stencilled areas.

White Gesso stippled through stencils adds areas of light and
embossing stamped circle images with dark EP makes them pop.

Metallic multi surface paint highlights areas of raised texture.

Drips of heated UTEE break up those open areas adding extra interest.

This gem and button filled wire circle was a pin brooch I never finished
and judging by it's weight it was far too heavy for purpose, hence it's dormancy.

3D Gel Medium helps hold it firmly in place along with other found embellishments.

I think I could have carried on and on with this as the space was so vast but after edging
in black I decided to call it a day and tie it onto another GiganTAG I created last year.

I now have a front and back cover
to house large collage pages to keep them nice and flat.

If you'd like to share your ideas and creations with us there's a prize of £30
up for grabs for one lucky winner to spend in the That's Crafty online Store
and in addition to that a stencil prize each for the Top chosen 3..

Open worldwide come share your creativity with us over HERE
as myself and the Design Team go Round in Circles ..

Thank you so much for visiting
Creative Wishes
Tracey xx

Oh, I love this Tracey - beautiful colours, wonderful textures - you created a beautiful backdrop for the lovely brooch to sit on (love the shape of the brooch too). I never quite know when enough is enough, so well done for stopping when you did, it is a real beauty. Hugs, Anne xx

Thank you very much Susi.. It's so good to have space all 7.5 x 15" of it to be creative. We all need a play day once in a while xx

Thank you Autumn, play days like this are fun to play with techniques and texture and having so much space is the perfect combination xx

Thank you so much dear Dorthe, you take in so much from my creation and can see all those important elements. I have so many unfinished pieces of Jewellery many that have tarnished over the forgotten time. It's good to be able to give them a new purpose. Big Hugs dear xx

It can be so difficult knowing when to stop, I always find if you give something a border it changes what the eye has seen previously helping me put the paint brush down or add a little more!! Thank you for the complements on my brooch it's missing it's top cage and has been like that for at least four years.. maybe I will find it and use that in another mixed media piece :)) Hugs xxx

Oh Tracey.. now here is my weakness.... circles!!!!... I have lost count of the number of circle and dot stencils that I have... and now I neeeeed this dot Mandala one too. Your tag is just gorgeous, and the recycled brooch is a fabulous addition!!. Dont you think it feels like Christmas when you find things that you made from way back and give it a new life. Your tag is a textural masterpiece...as all your work is tracey. I especially love the embossed splashes and the beautiful vibrant colours... deeelish. Xxxx

Thank you Avril, I love that element of the unexpected with melted UTEE never knowing what shapes we will get when dripped in this way especially if I can avoid burning myself in the process hee hee.. Mission accomplished :))

Tracey@Hotchpotchcreations said...

Well you really need to feed that weakness Jane hee hee!! You will be rewarded if you look on the site as there are even more fabulous circle stencils. It's always good to repurpose something handmade especially when it's been hidden away for so long, I have boxes of unfinished pieces just like this a lot more difficult to store than background papers.
Glad you like my tag, it was a good play space just having circles in mind xx
