Hello creative friends
It's midweek meet up time..
That day in the week creatives all over share
What's on (y)our Workdesks every Wednesday.
When Julia waves the weekly WOYWW flag it helps me stop,
take a moment and regroup with creative blog friends...
I'm very grateful for that right now ๐
Amid the madness of life I've been having a clear out this week
so nothing new creatively to share but a blast from the past.
I found this blurry photograph during the sort out it's of my
A Level Art & Design watercolour exam submission from 1988 ๐
I didn't pay the £3 fee to have any of my work returned,
for most students £3 was quite a sum 30 years ago, in fact
the price of 4 pints of lager & black. Not that I was a pint
drinking girl back in my student days but i'm just saying..
of course I spent my money on pencils and paint ... ๐
Treating Mom to lunch today and a little retail therapy,
so i'll catch up with you all asap.
Take care & stay safe
Creative Hugs

That really is a blast from the past! the lager and black takes you back too... not that I ever tried it. have a good week - enjoy lunch today! Helen #2
That's a beautiful piece. I never got m things returned from exams, either, it was just too costly! Back in my student days 3 pounds kept me for a week! Have a great day, hugs, Valerie
My canvas got hung in a local art gallery (teacher influence I think, not quality of my work) - wonder what happened to it. Yours showcases your talent.
You take me back to my college days but it wasn't lager and black I remember, it was wine and coleslaw on French sticks - at our parties - guess where most of the money went? Good to reminisce!
Enjoy your lunch with mum and the retail therapy.
Hugs, Neet xx 5
This is a wonderful painting! Great you show some of your earlier art!
So much easier to learn at a low budget today doing online classes, am I right?!
Happy rest of the week!

What a beautiful painting, Tracey. Yes, I remember when £3 was a lot of money, too!! I'm glad you've got a photographic record even if you never got the original back. What is that block thing with the string tied round it? It looks most intriguing!!

Lager and black? Good grief, that takes me back a bit...but I couldn't stand it! Used to have lemon top lager instead. Or Martini and lemonade cost 25p at the nightclub! Happy days, lol. I really like th artwork, thanks for sharing. Hope you have a lovely day with your mum and indulge in lots of retail therapy!

Oh wow, is that a watercolor painting on the photo? Wonderful!!! Student days, oh yah, I remember... I didn't drink beer either though. In fact, I didn't went out very much - I was more a 'catch-up-with-friends-on-a-terrace-and-sip-espresso-in-the-afternoon' and stay home at nights... Happy woyww and a hug from Holland. Marit #18
It's coffee time here so I've time to call in on my fav blogs and those who started early and have already visited me.
What a fab watercolour painting...£3! It was all about priorities as a student. :-)

Hi Tracey, what a great find! I agree, costs seemed so much more back then, or have we just got used to todays prices, I wonder? Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #7 X
So funny...apparently I did WOYWW on Tuesday by mistake :D It's interesting, sometimes fun and sometimes nostalgic, to look back at old work. Sometimes I cringe. But I love your little watercolor <3
You was an artist already back then, dear Tracey- it looks gorgeous !!30 years ago, oh my !!! must have been fun finding this , and thinking back. 4 pints for 3pound that was days , LOL -
Tomorrow Nadja and the kids arrive here, for some days, I look so forward seeing them, - and I will be quiet here and there, I`m sure, until they are traveling home again.
Sending you a big warm hug, dear friend- and best wishes for a lovely rest of your week. xx from Dorthe
Gosh, that took me back (although I go much, much further back than you!) but as a mature student 30 years ago it was Guinness and blackcurrent.... now there's a thought.
Your artwork is fabulous, what a shame you did not get it back, I suspect it is in someone's gallery at the moment, it is far too brilliant to be anywhere else! I hope you had a nice lunch with your Mum. Hugs, Anne xx
Wow! That's a wonderful find and how gorgeous is it. Lager and black - now that takes me back! LOL. Happy WOYWW. Have a lovely week. With love & God Bless, Caro x (#15)
Hi Tracey, great art work. I'm sure there are loads of pieces like yours still being displayed in classrooms all over the country. We always had some that got left though I did get pupils coming back five years later, sometimes they were lucky. Hope you had a good time with your mum and you both found something nice to buy. Have a lovely woyww and thanks for the comment over at mine. Angela x14x
Hi Tracey, Your artwork is fab.
Hope you and your mum enjoyed the meal.
Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Thanks for visiting, hope you had a great lunch with your Mum. I am so thankful I took mom everytime I visited as now she cannot go out with me...the stroke has made her left side paralyzed and I can't handle her. I go 2/3 times a week to feed her breakfast, seems early A.M. she is the best. It's just hard to have them go thru such illnesses. Hope you have a great week.
What a lovely painting and what a talented artist you are. It's great to re-visit old art, and nice that you actually had a photograph of it even if you didn't have the real thing. I didn't get any of my work back and I didn't think to take photos of it - it didn't concern me at the time, but now I'm older I wish I had! And of course, like you I was spending my money on pencils and paint!!
Happy WOYWW,

That is indeed a blast from the past Tracey. At least you have a photo of the piece. I found my O Level history project on canals recently (from 1981), they are fun to look back on. I didn't do art at school past Y9 (3rd year) so didn't have to choose whether to find the £3 or not. Happy WOYWW. Sarah #4
Beautiful artwork! I'm so happy you shared your photo, but like others said, so sad you still don't have it to display. I've gotten rid of all my old pieces, and it makes me sad for one very special tree stump I made from clay. It's probably one of my only pieces I sold...it was at a yard sale, so it probably went for 25 cents! Ha! Ha! I hope you enjoyed your day with your Mum! Hugs!
Great blast from the past Tracey! xx
What a lovely piece of art! I took art in 1971 from a local community college, my bast piece was a pencil drawing, but it was unfortunately stolen - I wish I had a picture of it! It's still in my mind though. I guess someone liked it enough to steal it, maybe it's in someone's art collection...thanks for your visit, and have a great week! Lindart #24
Thanks for visiting, Tracey, and leaving such a lovely comment. I'm glad you enjoyed my kitchen exploits! Certainly my recipes will be a lot easier to access once I get them all onto the new app.

Hope you enjoyed your lunch with your Mum and thank you for sharing this blast from the past ? x
Sorry I’m late. Wow Tracey, I had to double check..it’s a photo of your watercolour piece...blimey, I thought to begin with it was a photo of the garden tools! Amazing gal. Mind you, those of us that know you a little bit would easily say that art is in your bones, I love that 30 years after exams, you’re still doing it, enjoying it, being it. Hope you had a lovely lunch with your Mum...very important time that. Xx
Lovely BFTP Tracey, hope you have a lovely weekent.xx
Better late than never ....ehmmm. Now that is a lovely find, perhaps it is a sign to start painting again. Have a lovely week.

Ah Tracey maybe I should replicate and do a good clean up too! In 1988 that would be like $10 here and that was a lot of money believe me! It’s all relative when student especially money was very tight. Now we can get things so cheaply eg cars cost several years wages back when my dad bought our first family vehicle, now it is much much less than that.
Love your blurry photographed art work though. Am sure you’ve enjoyed time with mum, do it while you can. ❤️
Happy belated WOYWW. Thanks for sharing, Shaz in Oz.x #20

Interesting to see old school work! Alas, I don't have any with me. And its true about the cost of living...comparing 30 years ago with today!!! I can't believe how little you get for 1 pound... £1 ...today!
That's a lovely piece, so it's sad that you weren't able to get it back. I believe it's good to see how our artwork evolves throughout the years, so at least you can do that. Thanks for your visit to my blog and happy WOYWW!
Golly - what fun to find such a blast from the past! I love that twine-wrapped block. Hope all's going well with the clear out.
