Paperbabe Stamps ~ Sketch Challenge #93

Happy Friday Creative Friends,

There's a new challenge theme over at Paperbabe Stamps
and this fortnight we give you a sketch prompt.

*Use the Herringbone image to create a background,
the tag maybe your focal, the "Paperbabe stamps" word can
represent any sentiment and the flower any embellishment...
it really is that simple.

Play and create, flip it, turn it and be inspired by it.
You do not have to use Paperbabe Stamps to play along...

Here's what I've created and how it came to be...

Onto an A4 journal page, a background was created playing with the
chequerboard stencil to add flat and dimensional texture alongside
left over book pages, paper snippets, washi and loose threads.

All calmed down with a few brush strokes of white gesso...

Shading with pencil around the aperture within the book page I stamped
the comfort Zone sentiment onto deli paper and applied to the page.

Creating a Female face using the Paperbabe mini head and torso
template and mini female face stamps I scribbled in her hair.

Cutting the face out with a Tag die, the colouring begins
using alcohol markers and a selection of pencils.

Embellishing the tag with left overs, lace and paperbabe
hand painted media blanks I arranged them to flutter around her.

I love how those wings in the background appear to belong to her.

There's plenty more to see over HERE from the Paperbabe DT
pop on over and join the Sketch Challenge Fun.

A moment away from the weekend lets hope it's a creative one!

Take Care everyone
Hugs Tracey xx

OMGosh, Tracey. This is out of this world. I agree the wings in the background appear to belong too this gorgeous beauty. I simply adore how the butterflies dance around her and the tag. This is an incredible entry and I'm thrilled you chose to include Erika's theme at Art Journal Journey, too. I love that you are so supportive of AJJ.

I liked the image with the butterfly. It's a reminder to leave some bits out and let the viewer's eyes fill in. And a lesson in subtlety. LeeAnna

Wow, Tracey! Another absolute stunner ;-) I love the way you created this from your leftovers and cutting out your girl's face with a tag die was pure genius. They're interesting looking stamps... and your colouring is wonderful. I think the thing I like best is the virtual lack of colour, apart from on the flutterbies and the girl - such an understated effect but the contrast is so effective. It really is a gorgeous page; I love it. You are so inspiring!
Thanks so much for sharing with us at TIOT.

Tracy these are just gorgeous. You have a real talent for putting texture and color together.

I love faces! I strive to draw and paint faces, but I never come up with anything remotely like yours. This is beautiful. The colouring is superb. The way you decided to cut the face into a tag is something I have not seen before and to include this in your journal page which is quite devoid of colour is simply stunning. All the elements blend together, the butterfly wings are , well, just perfect.
An absolutely beautiful piece of artwork.
