Hello Creatives 

Welcome to Creative Artiste's Monthly Challenge 

our theme is always Anything Mixed Media Goes... 

My April mixed media journal page is created around a focal 

stamped image surrounded by textured glitter paste scraped 

through a stencil. Tracing around the hexagonal honeycomb 

using a 3D Gold glue pen I also enamel embossed those 

background ovals to add extra interest.

Stamping the image out multiple times colouring with pencil 

and alcohol markers this enabled me to cut and layer up extra 

leaves and flowers along with giving me the ability to recreate

 a fluffy Bumblebee by cutting and sticking a bright yellow 

pom pom and eyelash wool, a fun Spring time project...

2020 Baker's Dozen

 Hello Creative Friends, 

The last day of the year has arrived which means 

I get to repost a handful of my favourite makes of 2020. 

As many of my personal favourites I've not shared this year I'm 

breaking tradition by starting with my favourite unshared piece 

which is also my last page as Guest Host @ Art Journal Journey 

The meaning of .. words. 

This journal page bares my outstretched hand resting on a painted 

foliage paper. Every day since creating this page I have placed a 

new word or affirmation in the hand to start my day.. words help. 

Today I'm placing Thank YOU a little word with a huge heart. 

Shared with gratitude to all those that have been supportive, 

shown kindness, strength and consideration. Been an ear or 

virtual shoulder to cry on or just believed in me... 

I thank YOU all.

This month I have created A House for all Seasons..

Here's what I got up to with wood, stamps, stencils, 

pastes, die cuts and wire to name but a few...

Using two pieces of wood left over from a recent garden project, 

I used an image from AALL & Create's Shuttered Window's stamped 

onto rice paper ready to position exactly where I wanted.

Adhered to the wooden base I coloured and painted the image 

adding liner pen and glossy accents to bring out areas of detail. 

The back displays paste pushed through Tim Holtz Ironwork and 

Bricked stencils, painted with distress paint, all wrapped gently with 

wire ready for dressing with die cuts of ivy from the StudioLight range.

Adding texture paste to the roof painting in all those finer details 

I lost myself in a creative afternoon with this piece, so I will leave

you with views from all sides and let the pictures tell it's story. 

I love how the twisted wire and roving ivy envelops these sides still 

allowing the texture of Tim Holtz Iron work stencil to peep through.

Words taken from Tim Holtz tiny text stamp set is a 

reflective message to cherish every moment...

Shutters stamped separately I was delighted to discover each one 

was a mirror image of the other enabling me to stamp both sides. 

Attached either side of the arched window it gives a private yet 

homely feel with it's evergreen ivy, timeless whatever the season.

Create what you love from Spring through to Summer..

Hello everyone, 

Way back in April on a mission to make a dent 

in a stock pile of MDF and a plan to replicate  

something i'd tried 30 years ago I created this.

 

The first of three faux ceramic tiles..

triple embossed with clear embossing powder I really 

loved how the powder sank into the design when heated.

At collage we'd draw our designs on clay tiles 

tracing their outline with a process called tube lining.. 

I can still feel the frustration of making mistakes 

and having to scrape off and start all over again. 

This daisy stamp by Tracy Evans is a stunning design 

the perfect image to stamp and retrace with a liner pen, 

The opacity of gouache is ideal for painting out areas not required, 

with the ability to reactivate again with water when dry, a huge 

advantage for this tile that had lay unfinished since May.

Introducing a touch of stamping back into the open painted 

design and then like the first tile it's triple embossed. 

The high gloss really does bring it to life.

As Spring moved into Summer with a vision of uncut grass 

that lay carpeted with lawn daisy's my June tile came to be. 

Using the same process and paints with a subtle colourway, 

when embossed this final tile became my favourite of the three.

Which one is your favourite? 

I really enjoyed creating one tile each month and although 

I only intended to produce three, i'm not sure my 

faux ceramic tile journey is over just yet. 

It's much easier to create them this way than 30 years ago..
