Creative Artiste ~ #126 Anything Mixed Media Goes

 Hello Creative friends

Welcome to May and a new Challenge #126 @

My DT project is an ode to Vincent Van Gogh and my
own take on one of his Iris paintings from May 1889.

His own painting ABOVE speaks volumes to me,
a timeless interpretation of life and situations..

Dismissing all the blue/purple Irises I focused on
the stand alone single white in my art journal..

On a stencilled background scraped with paint the Iris is stamped
multiple times, cut and layered for dimension, painted with white
gesso and given a glittery beard it's stem and leaves are made from
old packaging, painted, coloured, cut and fashioned into shape.

Laid upon old (on the turn) coloured texture paste,
I added twisted beaded wire to ground the Iris..

Edged with stitch, washi and a strip of hand dyed
lace, gold paint lightly tickles those raised areas..

I hope we @ Creative Artiste can inspire you to share YOUR
Mixed Media Creations.. there's plenty more to see HERE..

Come share your own creativity in our May Challenge

Take care everyone

Vincent's/Tracey's Chair...

Hello Creative Friends,
I hope you are all keeping well ?

I've been somewhat quiet in blogland.

This week was reserved for a dear friend we sadly lost in January,
time to pay respect, spend time with friends and say our goodbyes.

This poignant piece I share with you today.

Some of you already know I have a love for *Vincent*
This stencil is designed by the amazing Donna Downey,
one of many in her signature series and in my collection.

This is indeed Van Gogh's Chair... my way!

Blending ink through the stencil lay down those important outlines.
A watercolour wash acts as a foundation for my colour palette.

Unlike Vincent's original there is no pipe and tobacco placed on this chair.

I'm not sure if this was Donna's intention?

I chose to sketch in a pencil, for making marks which can easily
be erased and a pair of glasses, worn to see the finer detail or
removed to blur out the surrounding world.

Finished with acrylics you'll see no onions in the wooden box behind;
I chose to leave it empty... It does say Vincent on it after all.

Painted in the style of Vincent with my own signatures.
My yellow chair is complete...

Thank you for stopping by today, i'm looking forward to playing catch up
with you all this weekend and seeing what you've all been up too.

Take care everyone & look after each other..

Creative wishes

Patchwork Vincent

Ever in need of a creative play day..?
Well this journal page is just that.

Some of you may know I have a love for all that's Vincent.

Such a misunderstood and underestimated Artist,
if he had lived in this day there would have been a lot
more people to listen and guide him through his tormented journey.

*Here's my patchwork Vincent with a few close ups of the process..*

It all started like this on Wednesday, a found Art Journal
with another unfinished page.. Time to play!

The heat wave has been playing havoc with some of my art materials but these
neocolors II's can take it even though they look as if they have seen better days.

As do these very old neocolors which I inherited a few months back.
Just needed to scratch through the surface to find their colour... there it is..!

Not sure these Dina Wakley birds work as crows.
Knew I should have just hand drawn them.

A little mix of modelling paste works a treat
for adding small amounts of colour and texture.

Strips of Van Gogh Washi and a found sticker or two adds interest
and is a reminder that I still have plenty of this Washi left to use...
..if I can remember where I have tidied it...

My patchwork Vincent page is complete, or is it??

I think there's still plenty of space to sketch in more snippets
of those greats and I really do need to sort out those crows!

Thanks for stopping by..

Wishing you a Fantastic Friday
and a creative weekend.
