A stitch in time saves a Rustic 9

Hello creative friends,

How you all doing?

Inspired by a rusty number nine found buried in my garden
I thought i'd incorporate it into the cover of my latest
junk journal...

Layering it's stencilled cover with die cuts of old paper,
embellished with buttons, wrapped thread and lace

a punched book page made an alternative surface to stitch.
Alongside a stamped embroidery reel topper and bobbin wound with
thread, the button is from Granny's button tin still attached to it's card.

Onto ribbon edged with machine stitch faux typewriter keys sit.
I love how the original book cover still peeps out from below.

Not convinced this journal cover is quite finished, there's still
room to squeeze in a found curio or trinket don't you think?

A stitch in time saves 9...
(it's one way to approach the new blogger interface..!)

Wishing you all a super week ahead,

Take care
Creative wishes
Tracey xx

Simply brilliant Tracey. Love the rust and grungy look and then you have the softness of the threads, buttons and so many other bits and bobs. So creative and beautiful.

Oh wow Tracey, what a great find (says she who has a tin of rusty nails) that rusty 9 was! You have incorporated it beautifully into your cover. I love how you added the buttons and the little safety pin is a nice touch. It most definitely looks finished to me but if you fancy adding a rusty nail just let me know, I have plenty! Hugs, Anne xx

This is a stunning cover Tracey, gosh that rusty 9 looks fantastic what a brilliant find. The other things you added all work brilliantly together too. The stitching, buttons, embroidery, and of course the saying! Can't say I would associate it with the new blogger interface yet though, for me it certainly is a stitch at the time, but whether it's going to save 9 I am not convinced yet. Anyway, let me use this opportunity also to say thanks for the lovely comments you have left on my blog recently, and I apologize for being such a bad blogger, but thanks for adding this beauty to our challenge at A Vintage Journey, it certainly oozes rustic charm!! xxx

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog to ask after me Tracy I really appreciate it. Keep safe and well your end my friend x.

Completely stunning, Tracey - I adore the vintage neutrals, and the scrumptious soft fabric textures and lacy delights. The rusty nine (what a lucky find) is a worthy focal point on this amazing journal cover - fabulous! Sorry I've not been visiting much - busy with new stamp release - but hopefully getting back to normal for a while now.

Dear Tracey, oh this is absolutely stunning,- the most beautiful cover , you have made . So many gorgeous details, with your sewing and the threads creating the wonderful wilderness, which can be when handstitching and looking for just the right tone of threads. The button still on its card and the number nine- you really found special sweet pieces for your journal cover. Well maybe you will find one more special detail to add,- but if not this is already so stunning. I hope all is fine, and well- and send you big warm hugs and loving thoughts. xoxo

That's weird - I know I left a long comment here, bewitched by your rusty 9 and by those glorious lacy layers and textures. Maybe you can still find it in your Spam? In any case, it's a completely stunning project. Breathtakingly lovely.

Such a stunning book cover. I love the buttons. I had a lot of those pearly buttons from my Great Granny and my Nan's sewing box... but sadly, they were among the casualties of a move because they were still readily available at the time. That's no longer the case...sorry to say. Lovely memories for you there, then as well as stunning art collage.
